Lis Künzli

Born in Willisau in 1958, Lis Künzli studied German literature and philosophy in Berlin and currently lives in Toulouse. This award-winning translator primarily translates contemporary French literature into German, including works by S. Corinna Bille, Camille Laurens, and Pascale Hugues. The jury of the Prix lémanique de la traduction, which she won in 2024, praised Künzli’s “fine sense of nuance, her joy in language play and puns, combined with great meticulousness and earnestness.”
The Leukerbad International Literary Festival has invited Lis Künzli as the translator of Marie-Jeanne Urech’s novel K comme Almanach (K Like Almanac) to discuss the particularities and challenges of this translation with the author.
