Born in Osthofen in 1981, Christian Filips is a poet, translator, musical dramaturge, and director. He studied philosophy, German literature, and music in Vienna and Berlin. While still a student, he began working as a musical dramaturge and theater director in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, the Maxim Gorki Theater, and the Berliner Volksbühne, among others.
He has been making an imprint on Germany’s literary landscape for many years with his multifaceted creations. He is also known for his own literary works as well as for his excellent work as a translator. He translates—often in tandem—from English, French, Italian, Islandic, Dutch, and Hungarian. Among many other writers, Christian Filips translates Logan February.
With Urs Engeler, he is a co-editor of the series roughbooks and co-publisher of the Engeler Presses since 2022.
