Svenja Leiber

Svenja Leiber was born in 1975 in Hamburg and as child lived for a time with her family in Saudia Arabia. She studied philosophy, German literature, history, and art history in Berlin, where she lives today. Svenja Leiber writes essays, short stories, and novels.
In her writing, she has consistently addressed the history of conflict in the Middle East, the question of the origins of violence, and possible ways forward.
About her novel Staub (Dust), Deutschlandfunk Kultur said: “In this novel, past and present are intricately interlaced and through her characters’ perceptions and experiences, Svenja Leiber offers the reader ways to dismantle preconceptions and fuse apparent contradictions. This makes her book literarily, humanely, and politically significant.”
