Ariane von Graffenried and Robert Aeberhard have been working as the duo Fitzgerald & Rimini for years, bridging literature and music, always with the aim of opening up the space ‘in between’ for the connections between word and sound. Their performances are both delicate and powerful. They are a poetic commentary, which, set to the music of Robert Aeberhard, carries us away from reality – comforting, stirring and, where necessary, unsparing. They have received numerous awards for their work. Ariane von Graffenried, born in 1978, completed her PhD with a thesis on the use of documentary films in theatre. She is a poet and performer, and writes for the stage, for radio, for newspapers and for academic publications. Von Graffenried’s texts shift from the concrete to the poetic and back again, sometimes in German, sometimes in English, sometimes in French, sometimes in Swiss dialect. Robert Aeberhard, born in 1977, is a musician, sound artist and composer. As a bassist, he is a sought-after studio musician and can be heard performing with various groups at concerts in Switzerland and across Europe. His engagement with the acoustic environment flows into his work as a sound artist. As a composer, he writes music for film and television.
