24th Leukerbad International
Literary Festival
28 to 30 June 2019
Welcome | Willkommen | Bienvenue
From June 28-30 the Upper Valais spa town of Leukerbad will host the 24th annual Leukerbad International Literary Festival. In readings and conversations with world-class moderators, 40 authors from 17 countries will offer a stunning view of literature.
“Perspectives” conversation series
Memory culture, women’s rights and literature in the Arab world, and the consideration of 100 years of the Bauhaus will be the key themes of this year’s “Perspectives.” In addition, an exhibition of photographs at the Galerie St. Laurent and a conversation will present the work of Ré Soupault in the context of Dadism and Surrealism.
New partnerships
The Leukerbad International Literary Festival has formed two new partnerships this year: for the first time, the two winners of the International Literature Award from the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) will participate in the festival. Secondly, Leukerbad is one stop on the Grand Tour, a journey through the young poetry of Europe, in cooperation with the Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung.
Literary Walk on June 27, 2019
As an introduction to the festival weekend, attendees are once again invited on a literary walk on the Thursday before the festival. This year the walk will lead from the rye village of Erschmatt to Leuk, with literary guides Tanja Maljartschuk and Christian Uetz and a hiking guide.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Hans Ruprecht and Anna Kulp
