Very latest Literature from Valais: Young Writers present their Work

“There are two Alps. The Rosswald and the Rothwald. Everyone who lives on Rosswald is called Escher. Jakob Escher, Lisa Escher, Nick Escher, Rudolf Escher, Luisa Escher. Everyone who lives on Rothwald is called Stockalper. Toni Stockalper, Lukas Stockalper, Stefanie Stockalper, Nina Stockalper, Nicole Stockalper. The Stockalpers all hate the Eschers.”

So begins the brand new student novel LOVERS IN THE RUINS. This novel is the fruit of a weeklong effort by Class 10 OS A/B of the Brig secondary school – and excerpts from the book can now be heard live. Tuning into the same wavelength as the Leukerbad International Literary Festival, the very latest literature from Valais will be presented again this year during the festival.

All texts presented in the framework of the ZeughausKultur Brig were written in 2016. Some were created in two-day writing workshops in the Kollegium Spiritus Sanctus, others in the award-winning project ‘Schoolhouse Novel’ at the Brig OS. The students were coached in writing and reading by the professional writers Rolf Hermann, Christine Pfammatter, and Richard Reich, a Palais Valais Board member who directs the annual Valais writing workshops with Rolf Hermann and Gerda Wurzenberger.
